The three small towns Attard, Balzan and Lija in Malta are also alled „the three villages“. The neighbouring towns in the east of Birkirkara are some of the oldest villages in Malta.
Balzan is famous for its splendid villas. Towards Attard you can find the San Anton Palace, the location of the Maltese National Assembly in 1798 and now the private residence of the President of Malta. In Attard, right in the middle of the village, there is the parish church called “Santa Marija“. Built in 1613 by Tumas Dingli, the church is considered as one of the finest Renaissance buildings on the island.
