Dive Destinations around Malta & Gozo

Malta offers a real paradise for divers, as always, no matter his skill level or his experience. At the diving centres can be rented equipment of any kind. Now a unique experience can begin. How about with Wreck diving? Around the Maltese Islands, there are many wrecks like ships, submarines and aircraft. Here, we present some of the most popular dive spots around Malta, Gozo and Comino.

Tugboat “Rozi” - Marfa Point, Malta

In the north of Marfa Point on the north-west stretch of the island of Malta, on the opposite side of the headland. There is "Rozi, a 40-metre-long harbour tugboat, sunk in 1991, Malta's most popular dive site in the deep of 36 meters.

Benheim Bombers - Xorb il-Ghagin, Malta

This plane is about 800 meters in the east of Xorb il-Ghagin in 42 meters depth.
The Blenheim bombers were light bombers of the English Air Force. This one was shut down during the Second World War.

Char Lapsi - Char Lapsi, Malta

Starting point is a boat ramp next to the sea. You swims across the bay and comes to a head at the foot of a climb path. This is especially appropriate for divers and is the entrance to a large underwater cave with several entrances.

Fessej Rock - Mgarr, Gozo

Before the entrance to Mgarr ix-Xini Bay, about 2.5 kilometres Southwest of the port, stands a very dark rock from the water, which can be achieved only by boat. Fessej Rock is a large, circular and vertically from the seabed rising stack. Here you will find the deepest diving spots in Malta.

Delimara Point - Delimara peninsula, Malta

Before the pike of Delimara Point  marked a small square rock, a few metres from the water rises, the diving area. You dive from boat for security reasons because the boat traffic between rock and mainland.
If you swimming along the wall, you reach a flat sandy area, where you can find rays often. Delimara is appropriate especially for underwater photography. Visibility to 50 meters and countless beautiful motives for everything and everyone.

Wrack der Barke “Carolita” - Marsamxett Harbour, Malta

The wreck lies on the east side of Marsamxett Harbour, in opposite of the "HMS Maori" Manoel Island, on a steep slope just below one of the first window of the now no longer used military hospital. The bug goes up to 6 meters below the water.
In the wreck can be explored various areas, such as the machine room and the tax system.

Blue Hole - Dweijra Point, Gozo

Blue Hole is a round opening in the rock about one meter above the water level. It leads into a long, perpendicular the chimney up to 26 meters deep. The Blue Hole is a part of a spectacular and unforgettable introduction to a series of adventures.

Xlendi Cave/Xlendi Reef - Xlendi Bay, Gozo

The dive spot is located on the north side, where the vertical cliff quaff off into the water. The spot is not very deep and because of its clarity he can recommended for each level education.
Xlendi Reef is located at the entrance to Xlendi Bay. You can reach the reef best of the outcome of the Xlendi Cave.

Wreck “HMS Maori” - Grand Habour, Valletta, Malta

The wreck lies 13 to 17 meters below the surface of the water in the bay of St. Elmo on sandy ground. It can be reached on a cafe at the southern end of the bay. If the narrow lane in front of the cafe crossing, the road goes through stages, witch go down to the water
The wreck offers many interesting motives and vistas. Some parts of the vessel are still very clearly. Malta's most famous dive site.

L-Ahrax Point - Malta

The north coast of Malta consists of vertical sloping cliffs, in the area of L-Ahrax above and below water permeated by numerous caves. L-Ahrax Point is the northernmost point of Malta. Rocks, superimposed on the other form tunnels, passages and openings, this spot is varied and interesting.

Marfa Point - Malta

The entry is carried out directly by Marfa Point from land. A hole in the pier facilities of Cirkewwa and a path giving access to the water. Marfa Point offers many tunnels, caves and a cave where a statue of a Modanna has been established. One of the attractions is a sand bottom lying Admiralty anchor.

Wied iz-Zurrieg - Zurrieg, Malta

Wied iz-Zurrieg is a small bay on the south coast of Malta. Here you can go directly into the water to diving.
In 27 meters deep you find the Bell Tower Cave, a cave with three entrances, whose appearance resembles a bell tower.

Double Arch Reef - Xwieni Bay, Gozo

In the north coast of Gozo is a small, U-shaped gash in the cliff not far from the road. The entry is relatively easy. Then a long way go to the Double Arch, two windows in a rock, the double curve.

Comino Caves - Comino

Comino is famous for its many interesting underwater caves, located on the north coast. The Bay of Ghemieri has become one of the most popular targets for cave divers.

Cominotto Reef - Cominotto

Cominotto, a smaller island, is located in the North West of Comino. The aim of the dive is a reef on the Northwest corner with a varied underwater landscape.

New diving attraction in Malta, Cirkewwa
On 14 August 2007 was sunk the former GDR mines viewfinder Boltenhagen close to the wreck "Rozi". The ship was built in 1970 and sold in 1996 to the Maltese. Then it works for the navy and patrolled under the name P29 in the sea area around the Mediterranean island. The P29 with a length of over 50 m and 7 m width now rests about 37 metres deep off the coast of Malta and promises a new attraction to the underwater world from Malta. The wreck is reachable by land and by boat trip.
