Who wants to dive in Malta has to present a current medical certificate about his dive aptitude. This can be brought from home or provided by a doctor in Malta. The addresses you can get from the diving schools. With a five day dive course beginners can acquire the first diving licence - the Open Water Dive-certification (OWD). This entitles them to the world to participate in guided dives. But if you wants to explore the Maltese waters on your own you need for a special permit - the Malta Dive Permit. You get them from the dive schools, when you can present the Advanced Open Water Dive-certification (AOWD) or similar evidence.
