Anyone who likes fishing for himself, they will be pleased to learn that fishing with the rod from the shore is basically allowed anywhere on the Maltese islands without a special permit or fishing license. The harpoon, however, is strictly prohibited.
Fishing from a boat requires a permit, which has to be invoked by the Agriculture and Fisheries Ministry. However, many Maltese fishermen are ready to guests on their brightly painted boats Luzzu to fish with you for a small fee.
One only need to ask the fishermen in the ports, for example, of Marsaxlokk, Bugibba or in Marsalforn (Gozo) and negotiate the price.
