Megalithic Culture

As megalithic culture refers to a Bronze Age period in which large stone buildings such as dolmens, Men’s Hire, temples and tombs from huge, largely original stones were erected, which accord ritual significance. The term derives from the Greek words megas (big) and lithos (stone). Each large stone is referred to as monoliths, construction of two vertical stones, on a third stone was laid horizontally, as Trilithen. Individual stones are vertical orthostats. If you know these four words, you have the necessary tools to understand descriptions of the temple. The best are the reconstructed temple in Tarxien, shortly before the gates of Valletta. Especially mysterious is the underground installation of the grave by Hal Saflieni Hypogeum nearby.
