The image of Mosta is characterised by an imposing parish church. The Santa Marija Assunta has after the St. Peter's Dome in Rome and London's St. Paul's Church the third largest dome in Europe, regarding the diameter. The span of 43 m builds a widely visible eye-catcher between Mdina and Valletta. During the Second World War, this massively built church even resisted three bombs. One of these warheads you can visit today in the sacristy.
