Napoleon in Malta

In 1798 Napoleon occupied the islands but already two years later, after a British blockade, the Frenchman had to leave Malta the British. The British rule, their influence is still felt - not least, English is a second official language of Malta - lasted until 1964. In this year Malta has been independent and constituted in 1974 as a republic.
