That Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) is a system of rules, upon animals - only dogs and cats - of certain countries to enter Malta without quarantine must be meet certain conditions.
Here is just a small overview of the statutory provisions. Detailed and current information can be request at the Maltese Tourist Office. Preparations for taking the animal must be taken at least six months before the scheduled holiday.
For the entry of an animal into Malta, the following documents are required: - an official PETS certificate, which confirmed that the dog/cat have a microchip, vaccinated and blood is examined (this sequence must be observed) - an official certificate on the treatment of the animal against tapeworms and ticks (the treatment must be 24 to 48 hours prior to departure for Malta, and to be repeated each time) - an official statement that the animal was not outside the PETS countries
