But you still need to do a free registration. To manage crowds, Malta introduced a free “Book, Protect, Enjoy” system from May 1, 2025. Blue Lagoon access is capped at 4,000 per slot, and every visitor is required to register online for free based on cruise timings.
The Blue Lagoon is one of Malta’s most sought-after summer experiences. The 11am–2pm slot is the most in demand, especially from June to August. Tours open up weeks in advance, so if you’re travelling in summer, we recommend booking at least 5–7 days ahead.

If you're sailing between June and October, some experiences include a swim stop at Crystal Lagoon — a nearby cove that’s only accessible by boat. Plan to arrive at least 20–30 minutes before your cruise departs. Boarding usually closes 15–20 minutes prior to departure, and boats cannot wait for late arrivals. If you’re eyeing a good spot on the sun deck, arriving early also helps — upper deck chairs are first-come, first-served.

You’ll need to show your ticket or booking confirmation (digital is fine) during check-in.
Important: If your cruise stops at the Blue Lagoon, you must register for a free access pass with a QR code at blcomino.com. This is required by Maltese authorities starting May 2025. Match your slot to your boat’s Blue Lagoon stop time — most day tours require both morning and afternoon slots.

For daytime cruises, casual, comfortable clothing is ideal — think swimwear, cover-ups, and quick-dry footwear. Don’t forget your towel, sunscreen, and sunglasses. If you’re cruising in the off-season, bring a jacket — it can get breezy on the water.
For evening/sunset cruises with dinner or live music, opt for smart casual — no need to go formal, just no beachwear or wet swimsuits at dinner.

🛃 Security & boarding procedures

There’s no formal security screening, but crew may check bags briefly on boarding. Group seating is open, so arrive early for your choice of spot — top deck for sunbathing, shaded mid-deck for views, or air-conditioned lower deck for comfort.
You’ll board directly from the quay — look for the boat name mentioned in your confirmation (e.g., Lady Shelley, Kataleya, or a large blue-and-white vessel).

👶 Are children & pets allowed?

Children are absolutely welcome! Some boats have slides and shallow ladders for easy water access — just ensure kids are supervised at all times.
Pets, however, are not allowed onboard. Neither are large suitcases or bulky luggage.

Small day bags and backpacks are fine, but large suitcases and oversized luggage aren’t permitted. Limited locker storage is available onboard on a first-come, first-served basis. Bring essentials only — space is shared, and decks can get crowded.
